Upcycling at ESPIGAS: Giving a Second Life to Materials

Giving a Second Life to Materials: Espigas' Eco-Responsible Commitment

At Espigas, we believe in responsible and sustainable fashion. That’s why we’ve chosen to take an innovative approach in manufacturing our new luggage range: upcycling. This method involves recovering used materials or those destined to be thrown away and buried, giving them a second life while reducing our environmental impact.

What is Upcycling?

Upcycling is a practice that involves transforming materials or products that are no longer in use by giving them a new function and value. Unlike recycling, which often requires degrading the original material, upcycling preserves the characteristics and quality of the material as much as possible.

Our Upcycling Approach

At Espigas, we’ve decided to apply this approach to the creation of our bags! We collect various materials, such as life raft channels, life vests, and other maritime equipment, to transform them into beautiful, one-of-a-kind pieces!

Why Upcycling?

This approach allows us to reduce our environmental footprint by giving a second life to materials that would otherwise have been discarded. Additionally, it enables us to create unique products with authentic and original character.

Our Upcycled Collection

In our new collection, you’ll find bags in vibrant orange, black, and charcoal grey colors. These bags are crafted in our store located at 3 Cours Jean Ballard in Marseille! Each bag tells a story and embodies our commitment to sustainability and responsible fashion.
