Care & Durability
How do I take care of my Espigas espadrilles?
Like any beautiful piece, a pair of Espigas deserves a little attention. Our espadrilles are carefully crafted in Marseille, using natural and durable materials. Gentle care helps maintain their elegance and extends their life.

  • Brush them dry to remove dust and city traces.

  • Clean any stains with a damp cloth and mild soap, without scrubbing too hard.

Can I wash them in the machine?
We don’t recommend it. Even if the fabric seems sturdy, the drum and spin cycle can damage the sole, stitching, or shape. Hand washing—gently and carefully—is the best option.

What if they get wet in the rain?
Our models are not waterproof—they're light, outdoor shoes made for sunny days. If they do get wet, let them dry slowly at room temperature, in the open air. No radiator, no hair dryer—direct heat can damage the fibers. You can place paper inside to help them keep their shape.

How long do your espadrilles last?
That depends on how you treat them. If you wear them every day, in the rain, on cobblestones, they won’t last as long as if you alternate them, care for them, and give them a break. With normal use and proper care, a pair can last you several seasons—in style.

Are there more durable models?
Yes. Our “sneaker” models are designed for more intensive use: reinforced soles, reinforced toe caps, sturdier materials. They offer more support while keeping the Espigas look.

Can I repair a pair?
We don’t yet offer a repair service, but some cobblers are able to resole or reinforce our models. If you love your Espigas, give them a second life—we always encourage repairing over replacing.
