Manufacturing & Commitments
Where are your espadrilles made?
All our espadrilles are assembled in Marseille, in our own workshop. We've chosen a local and human-scale production model to stay close to our products, our customers… and our values.
Who makes your products?
We work in partnership with ESAT du Rouet, a Marseille-based organization that supports people with disabilities through work. Since 2017, this partnership has been at the heart of our model: it gives meaning to every pair we produce.
What is ESAT du Rouet?
ESAT (Establishment and Service of Help through Work) du Rouet welcomes and employs people with disabilities in a protected yet fully professional environment. It’s not a subcontractor — it’s a committed partner with whom we co-develop our methods and quality standards.
Are your materials sustainable?
We select high-quality raw materials, mostly sourced from Europe:
-
Cotton, linen, and leather from responsible workshops
-
Injected EVA soles (lightweight, durable, recyclable)
-
Recycled or repurposed fabrics for our Canal 16 Lab bags
What is your environmental approach?
We prioritize durability over disposability. Small runs, local production, sturdy materials, minimal packaging… We’re taking it step by step, but always in the right direction.
What is the "Fabriqué à Marseille" label?
It’s a label that brings together businesses that have chosen to produce in Marseille: artisans, creators, committed brands. We’re proud to be part of it and contribute to this vibrant local economy.
Is Canal 16 Lab part of Espigas?
Yes, it’s our line of upcycled bags. Each item is made from repurposed life rafts or survival gear, created in the same spirit as our shoes: local, durable, useful, and inspired by the Mediterranean.
