A brand driven by two committed founders
Behind Espigas is a complementary duo: Olivier Perret and Bérengère Perret, the brand’s founders and directors. They share the same vision—to create locally, sustainably, and with purpose.
It was during a long journey through South America that they discovered the alpargatas, those simple, practical everyday shoes. Upon returning to Marseille, they imagined a modern take on the espadrille—rooted in its territory and reflecting a certain art of living.
But beyond the product itself, they wanted to build a company that reflects their values: closeness, simplicity, and responsibility.
A supportive team at the heart of Marseille
Espigas is not an anonymous startup, but a human-scale business. The production workshop is based in Marseille, in partnership with the ESAT du Rouet.
Each pair of espadrilles is carefully crafted by artisans with disabilities, within an empowering professional environment.
This collective project also relies on a dedicated team and a loyal network of friends, partners, and collaborators. Designers, photographers, seamstresses, graphic artists, stylists... everyone who crosses paths with Espigas contributes their energy season after season.

Founders of Espigas and parents of a large family, Olivier and Bérengère live in tune with real life. Their inspiration is born from conversations around the table, from real needs, and the desire for comfort, style, and practicality.
