It’s the weekend! Off to the Cinque Terre, dolce vita mood on!
Ochre tones, deep reds, blazing sun, and the scent of salt in the air…
Our sneakers were made for this:
to wander through colorful alleyways,
to climb the stairs to a cliffside village,
to sip a spritz by the sea.
Lightweight and made of breathable cotton,
they’re built for summer, for la dolce vita, and the rugged paths of the Riviera.
Available on our website and in store.
Passion red. Italian escape. So, when are you heading off?
Espigas teams up with Johanna from La French qui Pique, a super-talented Marseille-based embroiderer, for a 100% local collab — and full of blue vibes
At Espigas and Canal16lab, we made the brave (and sometimes slightly crazy) decision to manufacture our products in Marseille.
But let’s be honest: making things in France — and especially in Marseille — has become an uphill battle.
Why?
Because after decades of offshoring, our country has lost the vast majority of its textile and footwear manufacturing workshops.
Starting in the 1980s, production shifted to countries where wages were significantly lower — Portugal, Tunisia, China, Vietnam... The result? Entire areas of expertise have vanished.
Today, everything has to be rebuilt: skills, supply chains, workshops, training programs.
Because it’s not enough to simply want to bring production back — you also need motivated and skilled people, the right machines and technicians to maintain and repair them, and an affordable, accessible space.
Marseille, city of sunshine and craftsmanship
Marseille is not just about its calanques, its Old Port, and its singing accent. It is also a city of artisans, creators, and passionate entrepreneurs who proudly carry the local craftsmanship. Thanks to the "Fabriqué à Marseille" label, these committed brands promote local, sustainable, and authentic production.
Today, we take you on a journey to discover some of these Marseille gems. A 100% local shopping experience means supporting artisans, preserving traditional know-how, and treating yourself to unique products with the flavors and colors of the South.
They wanted to save lives… Now they’re polluting the planet.
#GlobalRecyclingDay #JournéeMondialeDuRecyclage
Every year in Marseille, 20 tons of life rafts, life jackets, and wetsuits are simply buried.
Why?
Because they are expired.
Not because they are unusable.
Not because they are beyond repair.
Just because the system doesn’t know what to do with them.
Espigas receives the "Made in Marseille" label: a recognition of local expertise and eco-responsible commitment.
Aïoli, my friends! Marseille isn’t just about the sea and the sun!
It’s also about unwritten rules, a delicate balance between tradition and trend, between pastis and spritz. And now, there’s a situation almost "on the floor" (it’s really the case to say).
Apparently, some "people" went to Tuba Club… without Espigas on their feet.
We wanted to believe it, we thought: "No, it's just a joke, you know, Marseillais love telling stories." But nope. The rumor is true. Some NPCs of style showed up in neon sneakers (poor them) and camping flip-flops (worse).
We’re on the verge of an industrial disaster, worse than the sardine blocking the Old Port (that old awkward story).
