VALENTINE'S DAY: LIVE FOR LOVE

**Valentine's Day, the festival of Cupids is approaching, but who was Saint Valentine?**

Around 2,000 years ago (a little less actually, around 270 AD), Valentine of Terni was martyred by Rome for daring to marry Christians, which was forbidden in ancient Rome. Beheaded by Roman authorities, he later became the patron saint of lovers.

Another origin of this Cupid celebration would come much later in the 14th century in Great Britain. A celebration linked to the exchange of love notes, based on the belief that on this day, birds pair up, if not for life, at least for the year or the mating season.

For decades now, lovers around the world use this celebration to express their love in the form of a special moment or a small or large gift. And what better way to create a romantic atmosphere than with our matching espadrilles for him and for her!

No need to go far to celebrate love, I’m told in my earpiece—check out our list of souvenirs to bring back from Marseille, or why not opt for a pair of our handmade espadrilles from Marseille? A gift with meaning for sure!
