10 KM AROUND

Since we’ll still have to be patient before venturing further, and since the city of Marseille itself is full of wonders, we’ve decided to take you on a journey through a neighborhood we love and regularly walk through… in Espigas, mostly under the sun but also on grey days, which gives it an even more surreal vibe.

The 10 km of this walk around the hill of Notre-Dame de la Garde will offer you breathtaking viewpoints, unexpected glimpses of the turquoise sea, timeless moments, abundant nature, architectural discoveries at every turn, a joyful jumble of constructions as eclectic as they are colorful, and areas with poetic and strange names...

Starting from a well-shod step, the journey begins on a slope (choose your side of the hill, Vauban, Bompart, Roucas...), let your feet guide you through the alleyways and small streets, climb and descend endlessly, get lost at the whim of your desires, a color, a scent, or a street name that catches your attention... Marseille, gateway to the Mediterranean, will take on a new reality after this walk...

Don’t hesitate to climb up to the Bonne Mère who watches over the city and its people to admire the view or light a candle, stroll through her large terraced park, and admire the slopes covered with maritime species...

At this time, the wisteria spill over from the gardens, and earlier in the season, it’s the mimosa that brightens up and perfumes the air in the neighborhood.

A walk that can sometimes end with your feet in the water... on the Corniche Kennedy.
